Caliber : 7x65R Brenneke
An exceptionally fine single shot break open rifle, made mid 1977 by Herbert Scheiring in Ferlach.
The tapering round Böhler "Rasant" steel 24" barrel is chambered for the 7×65R Brenneke cartridge; it's rust blued barrel and bears a ZEISS “Diavari” T* Victory 1½-6×42 R.4 scope on a particularly finely executed quickly detachable low claw mount.
The Jaeger system action, with tip-up double bolt, is fitted with German double set triggers, top safety and integrated side plates and a light stroke on the push forward under lever opens the action noiselessly.
Gregor STÖGNER has finely chiseled in deep relief four superb hunting scenes on German scrolls background, the whole finished in French grey. The left side depicts roe deer's rutting fight while the other side illustrates the Saint Hubertus legend and the engraver has chiseled an alpine Ibex on the action belly and a badger on the grip cap. The German scroll dress also the barrel rear and the full scope mount, bases and rings.
Well figured selected French walnut was used for the very nice 14¼" LOP stock with Austrian sculpted cheek piece and leather covered slim buttplate. The grip and the forend are finished with outstandingly executed fish scales checkering.
Sighted at the range at 200 m that rifle delivered superb accuracy and displayed perfect soft functioning.
That fine kipplauf weights 6lbs-9oz without scope and 7lbs-15oz with the Zeiss fitted.
That rifle, in near new condition, is a perfect sample of the best quality kipplauf single shot Austrian light hunting rifle and it is of exceptional quality.
