Caliber : .240 Apex H&H Magnum
This exceptional H&H Best Quality "De Luxe" stalking rifle, caliber .240 Apex Belted Rimless [.240 H&H Magnum] was manufactured at the end of the sixties on an Original Mauser commercial action produced at Oberndorf in 1927.
This rifle was made under the leadership of new owner and Managing Director Malcolm Lyell who, after WW2, was able to restore the old London firm image by raising the quality of its production to the highest standards.
Its 25" Hykro steel barrel adopts a light profile and sports the London maker traditional iron sights with lined wide V two leaves rear sight and caterpillar bead under foldaway protector.
A spare front sight, numbered to the rifle, is present in the trapped cap ending the grip.
The Original Mauser 98' action is fitted with the famous H&H quick detachable side mount supporting a German made Zeiss Diavari C 3-9x36 scope equipped with a special n°2 post and crosshair reticle.
The trigger is a rare vintage Canjar, finely tuned to a light single stage let-off and fitted with a discreet additional side safety for use when the rifle is scoped.
The 14½" LOP stock, made of dense and nicely figured French walnut, follows the classic H&H pattern with a short forend, an elongated grip, an elegant beaded oval cheekpiece and a reddish Silver's rubber butt pad.
The recoil blocks and the trapped grip cap are bone and charcoal color case hardened while the stock oval remains vacant.
Of course, London proof marks and 13 Bruton Street address are present as is the SAFE detail inlaid in gold on the safety catch.
All the metal parts are slow rust blued, the barrel exhibiting, due to the composition of the high-chromium Hykro steel used for its manufacture, a few dark red shades.
Accuracy and smooth function are of course guaranteed for this superb rifle that weighs 7lb 11oz alone and 9lb 1oz scoped.
* A lot of original new H&H cartridges complements this offer *
