Category : C
Caliber : .300 HH Magnum Rimless
This rifle was built in 2011 for a client wishing to shoot heavy antelopes at long range.
The chosen caliber is the famous .300 H&H Belted Rimless Magnum [Super 30 or 7.62 x 72mm], an extremely precise cartridge whose reputation was definitively established when, in 1935, Ben Comfort won the Wimbledon Cup at Camp Perry during the 1000 yards match.
This weapon uses a blue printed and largely modified Mauser 98' DWM 1908 action, optimized for 180 grainers cartridges.
The reinforced magnum magazine box is fitted with a tilting Deeley lock while the bolt bears a three positions side swing safety and an ultra low handle.
The special trigger is shaped to be located at the rear of trigger bow and is set for clean 2 lbs. single stage let off.
The 26" HEYM barrel, forged in 34CrNiMo6 930 Newton/mm² steel, is equipped with an elongated support combining the front base of the claw mount and the wide V express sight with folding leaf, both gold lined, while the contrasting gold bead is fixed on a knurled ramp with removable protection hood.
To take advantage of the long-range weapon accuracy the client chose a SWAROVSKI Z-6 2.5-15x44 scope with 4.A fine reticle that we fitted on a low claw mount.
The 14½" LOP stock, in very nice golden French walnut, is of classic style with a straight comb and an elongated ovoid beaded cheek piece. Domed steel grip cap and traditional orange Silver's butt pad complete the fittings.
The receiver front ring, the magazine, the claw mount and sights bases, the screws, recoil bolt and the grip cap are engraved in "Royale" while the serial number is gold inlaid in relief on the trigger guard bow and flush on the left side to case front ring, with caliber designation on the other side. All the action parts and trimmings have been bone and charcoal color case hardened; the barrel and its fitting remaining slow rust blued.
The bare rifle weighs 8lbs. 11oz. and 10lbs. 3oz. scoped, a very comfortable shooting weight helping accuracy.
The weapon has had several safaris trips in East Africa and has just been the subject of a extensive service in our workshop; its operation as its accuracy carries our full guarantee.
We offer this gun and scope assembly at a much lower price than the cost of building an identical one at present time.
