Category : C
Caliber : 30-06 GVT
A superb, full options, pre-64 Winchester 70 cal.30-06 GVT transition model (type II, variation 1)* that leaved the New Haven factory in 1947.
This standard model is fitted with an alloy steel 24" n°1 barrel, chambered for the classic 30 Government cartridge. The front sight base, forged with the barrel, bears an original Lyman n°31 bead under factory sliding protector while the rear sight is a rare Lyman "folding leaf sight" n°6 whose the two folding leaves allow the sighting through the Lyman 48WJS peep sight affixed to the left side of the receiver.
The straight comb American walnut stock, with preserved factory checkering, displays a 13½" LOP on the original Winchester checkered steel butt plate.
The receiver bears a very rare period, all steel, double lever Griffin & Howe mod.1932 "Micrometer" side mount holding a Lyman "Alaskan" 2½x scope with post reticle.
The steel machined metallic parts are blued.
The rifle, having benefited from a complete overhaul in our gun shop, without modifications to its originality, is in perfect condition with a perfect bore, a crisp trigger and it works flawlessly, delivering the superb accuracy you can expect from "The Rifleman’s Rifle".
Scoped, that fine .30 GVT pre-64 Mod.70 weights 10lb and 8lb 14oz without the "Alaskan"; indeed its bears our entire guarantees.
