Side lever ejector Over-Under
MONTCOUDIOL
Shotguns
Category : Aucun
Caliber : 12/70mm/2¾"
A seldom-encountered French Montcoudiol ejector over under gun, made at the end of sixties in Saint-Etienne for Gagne-Lacouture gunsmith at Lyon.
The best quality Heurtier 28" barrels are choked 3/10 & 7/10°.
In that pattern the barrels open on hardened pins fitted to the action walls and as the bolts lie between the two tubes, the height of the mechanism could be reduced and rounded. The opening lever, easily manipulated with the thumb, is on the right side. The Whole action and fittings are English style engraved and retain much of the original color case hardening finish.
The straight French 14¼" LOP walnut stock is made of a good blank of well-seasoned French walnut and it ends on an ebony butt plate.
With a perfectly balanced 6lbs. 9oz net weight that gun is extremely quick to the shoulder and remains a delight to use on fast birds.
That well made and preserved over under is typical of the original French approach for the conception of superposed guns.
This sample is in perfect condition.
